1950s French Burr Wood Coffee Table

A sculptural coffee table, likely dating to the mid-20th century, formed from a substantial cross-section of solid timber with an irregular, organic outline.

The generously proportioned top retains its natural growth rings, fissures and distinctive openings, while the roughly worked edges reveal the texture of the timber. Three splayed cylindrical wooden legs support the slab, creating a simple, balanced silhouette characteristic of post-war organic and Brutalist furniture.

The richly patinated surface displays considerable variation in grain and colour, with marks, cracks and wear contributing to its individual character.
