Antique Swedish Folk-Carved Stool

An exceptional piece of Scandinavian folk craftsmanship, featuring an intricately hand-carved timber base believed to date from the 18th or 19th century, later reconfigured as a stool during the Arts & Crafts period.

The sculptural base is richly decorated with geometric chip carving, radiating rosettes and traditional foliate motifs, with beautifully detailed cross-bracing and wooden peg joints. The simple square top provides a striking contrast to the elaborate carving beneath.
